Added more Disk Space to over 64GB: nothing changed Now here's the moment I started upgrading the VM: The problem with this warning is that once you get, it will stay there, no matter if you upgrade the PC/VM so much, unless you manually disable a regedit value, which is the result of an experiment that I did earlier:įirst things first, I created a VM with such low specs: 1 Core Virtual CPU (Ryzen 5 3500U), 3GB RAM, 55GB Storage and Basic UEFI with no Secure Boot and no TPM.Īfter the installation (using CMD because the regedit keys didn't work for some reason), I had to upgrade to 22000.588, and of course, Windows Insider Program denied my VM as I expected, so I had to manually download and install the update.Īfter updating, as soon as I reached the desktop, the watermark appeared, and going to Settings > System reports the same thing with a link to learn more about it. Starting with the latest Dev builds and the latest Beta/Release Preview build (22000.588), Windows 11 will now warn you if you installed it on an "unsupported" device (either by using command prompt or regedit bypasses), both in System category of Settings app and as a Desktop watermark (just like Test Mode, Insider Previews or Windows 7 "not genuine" ones) There's actually a grace period between meeting the requirements and the watermark appearing/disappearing. Ofc, after enabling it, it didn't disappear. Update: this post was just useless, because I got the watermark a week after getting the latest update (22000.588) with TPM disabled for performance reasons.
